My Husband Rocks~Friday

Josh said we would look at the dryer, but I was wondering if he would procrastinate! He did not. I told him that I really felt we could save some money if the dryer was cleaned out; I told him his "mommy" said he should, and I also commented on my concern about the fire hazard.
I knew when we moved in that the lint catcher was broken, which I asked our landlords to replace. BUT if it was broken how long did lint just accumulate?? Anyway, he did agree....but I still wondered if he would actually DO it this weekend.
I am so glad he did!! He took the cover off, and sure enough lots of lint. Josh is also a perfectionist, which I appreciate when I ask him to do projects like this. He always does an excellent job. He kept vacuuming, taking off more pieces, and pulling apart the whole dryer: the motor, the fan, and the door, the top, etc. He found the heating element... it was NOT a fun wake-up call.
In some ways, I am very glad to have the evidence for next time, when I ask him to do it for me. But I am happier that he just DID what he agreed to do. AND that he is such a perfectionist in his work.
The heating element had a piece of lint covering the whole thing, like a blanket--BURNT!!! Josh was very GLAD we cleaned it out. AND I am glad I have a husband that isn't scared to take something a part.

Two Types of Mothers

There are only two types of mothers. The ones who happily stay at home and the ones who wish they could. ~Dr. Laura
DO YOU AGREE?
I do not......has our society changed that much, since 2001? I don't believe that the moms who work really wish they could stay at home. I know there are some, but I don't think all of them? AND are you a stay-at-home mom who is HAPPILY at home? I know some who aren't! So, does that make four types? What are your thoughts?

Da Winna'

I won my first blog giveaway!! Oh, to see my name in black and white.........OOOO, so much fun!!!

Thanks to April and her awesome giveaways this month, I am the winner of a cute new baby sling.
Go check her out; she does awesome blog layouts, too!!!

Is it Summer, Spring, or Winter?

Honestly, Colorado weather is so ODD. I can deal with temperature changes from morning to evening--California living taught me that it was "normal!" Colordao is very hard to plan your wardrobe around, because the temperature can change 50 degrees from afternoon to afternoon.

This last weekend was rainy and snowy in places. Denver got a foot of snow. Today, it is a wonderful 80 degrees. It's such a pleasant day. Yesterday was the same way.

Grilled food is one of my favorites. Yes, I know, Daja.....you are gagging. This benefits me in more ways than one: Josh is the cook, for one! AND, I get a YUMMY dinner.

Last night we had grilled pork chops, EXCELLENT corn on the cob, garlic bread, and a garden salad; it was the perfect summer meal. BUT was it summer? NOPE!! Oh, well, we will pretend.

Levi had his first popsicle, which he didn't finish. AND we enjoyed a beautiful evening outside. I can't wait for more days like this.

My Husband Rocks~Friday

Chains do not hold a marriage together. It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads which sew people together through the years. ~ Simone Signoret

It's been a while, but I guess it's about time that I get back to my Friday posts. If no one agrees, but Josh, then it's still worth it! Love you, Babe!!

The past few weeks have been busy, but it's not that Josh hasn't been an amazing, rockin' husband; it's that I haven't posted anything.

All those tiny threads just add up and then it's hard to pick just ONE to comment about. How do you pick just ONE thing out of a whole month's worth of wonderful things?

Our vacation to Glenwood Springs was beautiful and relaxing. We got to even do a little bit of hiking, which is something I enjoy doing. After one particular outing, my back started to really hurt, and I was walking really slowly. Josh walked ahead, and he got the car to come pick me up. He held my hand lots during our walks, even if I had to remind him to WAIT for me......we walked side by side, many times. Those are the sweet memories I will cherish for a lifetime.

It's not the big huge things that stick out in our marriage, because those things can only carry us so far. It's the phone calls at lunch time, it's the text messages during the day, it's the glances at me when he thinks I didn't see, it's the teasing and poking.....THOSE are what I think about in the day when I want to remember what WE HAVE!!!

You rock, Josh.......for making an ordinary day seem extra-ordinary, just because you ask to hold my hand.

I love you, Josh!!

The Earth Declares....

Last Spring on a Sunday afternoon we took one of our "nowhere" drives thru the country. My husband was quietly driving along some back roads. I was occupied in the front passenger seat watching out the window as the scenery went by.

I noticed out of the corner of my eye that my husband was straining to look out my window. This startled me, since his eyes should be on the road in front of him. I asked him what he was looking at out the windows, and he quietly replied, "Nothing. " He could have said he was looking for pine tree crosses for Easter. His eyes went back to the road in front of him.

After a few minutes, I looked over at my husband and noticed a tear running down his cheek. I asked him what was wrong. This time he told me, "I was just thinking about Pop and a story he had once told me." Of course, because it had to do with his Pop I wanted to know the story, so I asked him to share Pop's story with me.

He said, "When I was about 8 years old, Pop and I were out fishing and that's when he told me that the pine trees know when it is Easter."

I had no idea what he meant by that, so I pressed him for more information.
He continued on... "The Pine trees start their new growth in the weeks before Easter -- if you look at the tops of the Pine trees two weeks before Easter, you will see the yellow shoots. As the days get closer to Easter Sunday, the tallest shoot will branch off and form pine tree crosses for Easter. By the time Easter Sunday comes around, you will see that most of the Pine trees will have small yellow crosses on all of the tallest pine shoots."
I turned to look out the window and I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a week before Easter, and you could see all of the pine trees with the tall yellow shoots stretching to Heaven.
The tallest ones shone in the sunlight like rows of tiny golden crosses.
